About your therapist
Carol Ann Vigil M.A. LMHC
MA- Is my degree, a Master of Arts in Counseling and Guidance-Professional Counseling.
LMHC –Describes my license to practice. Every counselor or therapist in NM has to be licensed by the New Mexico Counseling and Therapy Practice Board. The board has several designations of licensure based on training, education, experience, supervision, and testing. I have been licensed as an LMHC since 2007. A year prior to my licensure I completed my internship with Sandoval County DWI Office and was hired full time after I became licensed. After working with substance abuse for nearly 2 years I moved on to a clinic setting and provided services to women, men, adolescents, and children for the Pueblo of Jemez.
I have been trained in Experiential Play Therapy. It is a trauma based model for work with young children. It is the language children speak. Having a diverse work history provides confidence that the professional you are working with has experience you are looking for. And there's more.
I believe that Quality service requires going beyond the basics. That’s why I’m committed to providing the things clients say are important – such as privacy, respect for their time, easy communication, and individualized attention. These are the things that clients value, and allow them to feel safe and comfortable.
